Oscar Fashion

So many award shows, so little time.  I know you are on the edge of your seats with my opinions, so lets just dive right in:

Not So Great:

Listen Jared.  I want to love you.  I really do.  But cut your freaking hair.  Please.

Remember this guy from the 90's???

I want to like this Gwyneth, but I can't get over the weird shoulder flower thing.

I also feel bad ripping on Lady Gaga after such an amazing performance, but what are the gloves??  Were you doing dishes right before the awards show and then forgot to take them off?  Help us.

Scarlett Jo... It's a lot of green.  A lot.

Maybe I Could Be Convinced:

Kerry Washington/Olivia Pope- you are fresh and beautiful but I don't think I am a fan of the peplum look?

Listen, I love me some Emma Stone and I really like the color, but I am not having heart palpatations when I look at the dress.

Dakota Johnson. I didn't realize that this was Melanie Griffith's daughter #wherehaveibeen.  I saw a REAL awkward interview with Dakota and Melanie and to top it off, Mel must have gotten some brand new botox because girl could not even move her face.  I felt weird.

Reese looks beautiful, but sort of plain too?   It's pretty but doesn't knock your socks off, you know?

YES!!

Kelly Preston, good length, good neckline, amazing color! Bravo!

Rosamond Pike.  You scared the shit out of me during Gone Girl, but you looked incredible!

Cate.  Yes to the dress and YES, YES, YES to the necklace.  I love everything!

I follow Anna Kendrick on Instagram, so I think we are friends and I loved this dress.  The simplicity of the style and the color, she looked beautiful!

But I think the best part of the night was this speech!  So touching!

What do you think?  Favorites?  Not so favorite?  Weigh in!!

Musical Fashion

Alright, lets talk Grammy fashion my friends.  Now I realize the Grammy's can be a little more casual or unusual, but I still have some opinions (shocker).  Here we go:

THE BEST:
1. Katie Perry.  Not everyone can pull off purple hair.  Like me for example.  But she can.  I think her dress is cute and she looks amazing.

2. Miranda Lambert.  I'm not 100% in love with her hair, but I think her dress is flattering and she is looking great!!

3. Beyonce.  Can Beyonce do wrong?

4. Gwen.  There was a lot of commentary over the fact that Gwen was without her trademark red lips, but I liked the change and her jumpsuit.  #idieforonepieces

NOT THE BEST:
1. Rihanna.  A lot of people liked this dress but lets talk logistics.  Where did she sit?  Was she assigned two seats?  One for her and one for the dress?  Her face looks really pretty and fresh but that dress is A LOT.  A lot of volume.  Seriously people, how did she sit down?

2.  Iggy.  I am not even sure about Iggy's dress because I am distracted by the huge braid around her forehead.

3.  Madonna.  How old is Madonna again?  I don't want to talk any shit about my material girl, but hello.  Dress your age.  Yes you have an amazing body.  Yes we all know it, but you look straight up ridiculous in this get-up.

4.  Let me tell you a story.  Have I already told this one?  When my mom and I went wedding dress shopping for my wedding, there was another girl shopping without her mother.  Instead she was with her friends.  This is a catastrophic mistake.  This girl would come out of the dressing room in a particular dress and her friends would tell her how amazing she looked.  Of course this sounds nice, but for something as important as a wedding dress you need some cold hard truth.  This is the dress in  pictures for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.  You cannot be told what you want to hear. You have to hear the truth.  Anyway, that is what I feel like happened to Katharine Mcphee's hair. Some girlfriend told her that this slicked down homely look was really fetch.  Sorry to be mama bear Katharine, but it is not your best look.

NOT SURE WHAT I THINK:
1. Taylor.  I love me some T.Swift and I am sure this is edgy and everything, but I can't convince myself I totally like it.

What were your favorites?

Oh, I have one more favorite.  Annie Freaking Lennox.  She is the real deal and ROCKED it Sunday night.  I love her.

Oscars 2013

I couldn't be happier about having two boys.  But as I was watching the Oscars last night, I realized that no one in my family is ever going to sit on the couch with me and critique outfits.  I tried to rope Paul in asking for his opinion, but the only comment he had was "Wow.  Another dress."  Not helpful.

First of all, I don't think Seth MacFarlane is very funny.

Am I the only one?  Can we get a Tina Fey, Amy Poehler combo?  Or Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig?  Those people are funny.

And why we are the subject, Kristin Chenoweth makes me feel weird.  Maybe it is because she is so small you could fit her in your pocket, but I think she is awkward, a little crazy, and not that funny.

Oh Anne Hathaway.  You odd little duck.  I guess you have to be a little strange to be an actor, but her acceptance speeches make me cringe.  And that dress?  Come on Anne!  You had all the choices in the world, and you made one that created pointy boobs?  I did like the back, but the front?  B-O-R-I-N-G.

This nine year old was pretty cute, and I couldn't help but love the puppy purse.  I wish she did something else besides show her muscles every time the camera was on her, but since she is nine I'll give her a pass.

Who is sick of Kristen Stewart? Smile.  Stop being so weird.

Jennifer Lawerence, I think I love you.  I love that you always talk about food and I love that you fell up those stairs and when asked about what went through your head when you fell, you said "a bad word.  That starts with F."  Hilarious.

Adele, you are amazing.  You look amazing and sound amazing and are always classy.  I heart you.

What were your thoughts about the awards show?  Any dresses you loved or hated?
