Date Night

A few weekends ago, Ryan had a little date night while my mom and dad watched Paul.  We went to go see The Campaign.  We thought it would be smart funny but it turned out to be Dumb and Dumber funny.  Which is fine, just not what we were looking for.  The date started by my purse getting searched by a 15 year old boy because it was post Aurora movie theater shootings.

We then went to dinner where we were served by a former student who informed us of the wonderful news he had an 18 months old daughter at the ripe age of 20 years old.  Ryan told me he literally saw the tip amount for this young man going up, up, up in my head as he told us of his struggles trying to balance fatherhood, community college, and working.  He was right.  I left a generous tip.

Meanwhile, my parents took Paul to the "fancy park" and snapped some great shots!

And then they took him to Chuck E. Cheese.  Seriously.

I thought Paul would be scared, because that mouse looking thing is quite frightening, but he loved it.  Especially when he realized his "G" had a unending supply of quarters that he could play games with.  My dad coped with a beer.  Had I realized they served beer at this establishment, I may have been more willing to try it months ago.  Live and learn.

Valentine's Day!

For the last few Valentine's Days, Ryan and I have decided against exchanging gifts and instead go to a nice dinner! This year we traveled downtown where we feasted on crab enchiladas and steaks at Tamayo

Then caught this play:

It was light, funny and mostly accurate and perfect for a date night.  It was nice to spend a little time with one another and have dinner without having to entertain a toddler.  Ryan took the next day off work so we were able to go story time as a family.  Paul was so excited to introduce his Dada to everyone at the library and show off all his tricks (like standing in front of the librarian while she reads so he can help turn the pages).  It was a fabulous holiday!

Date Night

Last weekend Ryan and I had ourselves a date night. We ate sushi and went to see a movie.
We were a bit disappointed in ourselves that we couldn't remember the last movie we had been to. During the holidays we used most of our babysitting nights to go to parties or out with friends, so it was a nice change of pace to go out just the two of us. Meanwhile, Paul had a good time at my parent's house. They only took 347 pictures of him. I am not exaggerating. When I got there, Paul was wearing just a diaper and was shooting the basketball (shocker) while G rebounded. He was in heaven.

He is wearing his Kansas sweatsuit from Aunt Kascie (that he now pronounces "Sassy") and his Jordan's from Uncle Buck. When I showed some of these pictures to my students (because I have no same exploiting my child's cuteness) they told me that Paul has some serious swag. In case you don't feel up to date on the high school lingo, that just means that Paul is very stylish. Obviously.
