This Morning
When I was younger, my mom would purposefully wake up a little early, brew coffee, and sit in the living room in silence. I thought she was absolutely insane. Now I understand.
I just woke up before the sunrise on my spring break to take a yoga class. I returned to a quiet home where everyone is still sleeping. I am enjoying not only my own cup of coffee but the stillness. No one is asking for anything, there is no screaming or talking or banging of toys on the ground. It is peaceful.
True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment. - William Penn

Love this! I always end up staying up way too late b/c it's the only time I ever get to myself.
ReplyDeleteJust wait until the morning with everyone's music/radio stations. Dad would have on talk radio, you would have on Fleetwood, Buck would have on LOUD rap.. whoa.. quiet, quiet quiet.. such a good thing!
