What Are you Reading?

People ask me for book recommendations all the time and sometimes I can't give them a straight answer because I feel like there is SO MUCH to read! Again, how do I get a job where all I do is read? And drink coffee? And get manicures? Does this exist?

Here is what is on my nightstand:

I am currently reading Maine and loving it. Put it on your list!

We already know I am excited to laugh out loud at this one:
I still haven't had a chance to dive into Cutting for Stone and I can't believe it. Everyone who has read this loves it. I need to make this a priority immediately!
I just put this one on hold at the library (by the way, I love doing this. Adding a little wish list at my local library and when they email me that a book is ready, it feels like Christmas). I loved Middlesex so hopefully this one is just as good!

I obviously wasn't going to read American Outlaw, because who the hell cheats on Sandra Bullock? But Maureen read it this weekend and only sent me about 37 text messages about how I need to read this book. Curiosity wins again. It is on my list.

What are you reading? Are you in a book club? Can anyone find me a job with the above requirements?

  1. Oh, maybe we can be coworkers! I'll be in the reading/manicure/hot tea and kitkat department.

Put Rules of Civility by Amor Towles on your list. I can't stop thinking about it.

Love all the suggestions. And, yes, I am in a book club, but you already knew that. =)

  3. if one of us actually gets this job, we have to make a contractual job requirement that we will only accept with the other one of us in tow as coworker. the jealousy would be too much to bear.
