Giveaway Winner!

Thank you to everyone who entered the Seventh Generation Giveaway! From all your baby tips, it seems the most popular was to not forget diapers and supplies when out and about!  Sounds like there are some disastrous stories behind these tips!

Anyway, the BIG winner was Mamma Mags!
Her tip was:

baby care tip: have everything set up and ready for night time bottles. have the water poured in the bottle and the formula pre-measured in another cup. then just dump it in, shake, feed the baby. saves a lot of time and frustration in the middle of the night.

if your baby likes warmer than room temp bottles, pour pre-measured water in a good coffee thermos to keep warm until that 2am/3am/4am/etc feeding.

Please send me your address and I'll pass your info along!!

Again, thanks to everyone for stopping by!  Great to see some new people!

And, because what would a post be without a picture of one the boys?  Charlie rocking a little tummy time!  Look at that hair!

Seventh Generation Baby Wipe Giveaway!

My sweet Paul will be three in just over a month.  I cannot believe that I will have a three year old.  Everyone is telling me that three is hard.  Like really hard.  Is this true?

Before you ask, no he is not potty trained.  Should he be?  Probably.  I told myself I wasn't going to worry about it until after Charlie was born.  Now Charlie is almost three months old, and I still don't want to worry about it.

Anyway, wipes are a very popular product in my house as we have two in diapers.  And I have two boys.  In addition to dirt diapers, they have a lot of boogers.  I hate the word boogers.  I hate that I am writing about them right now.  But you know who likes boogers?  Boys.  Especially two year old boys.  They come up at the dinner table almost every night.  But I digress.

We use a plethora of wipes everyday for booties, noses, hands, faces, and lord knows what else.  Recently I tried out a new brand of wipes from Seventh Generation.  I was intrigued because these wipes are free from fragrances, dyes, parabens, pthlates, and alcohol.  When I look at my babes, especially brand new Charlie, I can't imagine putting all that "stuff" on his innocent body.  Seventh Generation allows me to clean up the dirty work without the worry.

The plastic package comes with a close able lid which is great because you can easily throw them in your purse or diaper bag or car.  The wipes are thin with the perfect amount of moisture.  Have you ever tried to wipe crusted macaroni and cheese off a toddler's face with a dry wipe?  Will not happen and will most likely end in tears.  From both of you.

The suggested retail price for  64 ct. of these wipes is $2.99 and they are available at Target, Whole Foods, Diapers.com, and Amazon.

The good news:

Seventh Generation is providing a box of Free and Clear Baby Wipes to one First Baby Bump Reader!

A Chance to Win 25 Bucks!!

Here is an easy chance to be entered into a drawing to win a VISA card for 25 dollars.  Doesn't everyone want a little extra cash?

If you have a few minutes to share your feedback on the ingredients used in personal care products (think lotions, body washes, shampoos, etc.) for babies and kids, please check out this survey from my friends at The Motherhood: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/R3QHRFF

They want to know if you trust the ingredients in traditional baby/child care products, whether you're reading product labels for personal care products the way you might read food labels, and other important and interesting topics.

There’s an option to submit your email address at the end of the survey – anyone who completes the survey and provides an email address will be entered to win one of 10 VISA gift cards worth $25. (The email address is just a way to notify the gift card winners and won’t be shared.)

Good luck!!

Baby Bump- 36 Weeks!

How far along: 36 weeks!  He is still packing on the pounds and shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body.  Most likely he is in a head-down position!

How big is baby:  Almost 6 pounds- crenshaw melon (what is that??)

Sleep: It's okay. More getting up to go to the bathroom but nothing awful.  I think these last few weeks of pregnancy do try to prepare you for living with interrupted sleep.  But nothing can prepare you for that.
Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Nothing new!

Exercise: YOGA!

Gender: BOY!!

Movement:  Yes!

Worries: I am more worried about this baby exiting my body.  I am worried about the pains of labor.  One day I am worried that this baby is going to come so fast I won't have time to blink, and the next day I am worried I am going to have a labor that lasts for days.  But then I have to remind myself that babies enter this world everyday.  Plenty of women do this.  I've done this before.  And one way or another, this baby is coming out!  And there is beer at the end of this marathon.  That is always motivating.

What I'm loving: It snowed this weekend, and we spent plenty of time in our pajamas, watching movies, and drinking hot chocolate!
Symptoms: I feel just a bit more weighed down, a bit more pregnant.  The need for naps is back (not that I mind) and my nesting urge has not reached its full potential which disappoints me!  This house needs to be cleaned.

What I'm looking forward to: 28 days.  Just 28 little more days!

Best moment of the week: 98% of my Christmas shopping is done and wrapped.  Seriously.  I am so impressed with myself.

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY!  ENDS AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!!

Seventh Generation Baby Plus Giveaway!

With a toddler in the house and a new baby on the way, I am constantly thinking about what I am putting on their skin and how I can keep them as healthy as possible!  Seventh Generation now has a new line of baby skin products that I had the pleasure of trying out!  The Baby Sunscreen, Baby Shampoo and Wash, Foaming Baby Shampoo and Wash, Bubble Bath, Baby Lotion, and Diaper Cream are all products I feel comfortable using on my babies.  Check out these facts:
  • First complete line of biobased baby care products
  • Endorsed by Healthy Child, Health World
  • Products are gluten-free
  • No synthetic fragrances, phthalates, or parabens
  • Tear free
  • Non-toxic, biodegradable
  • Made with natural ingredients that come from plants and minerals
  • Extra-virgin olive oil to moisturize and protect
I love the Foaming Baby Shampoo and Wash!  It is light, smells great, and logistically genius that the shampoo and wash are all in the same bottle.  Paul is also a huge fan of the Bubble Bath.  Using just a little of the product provided long lasting bubbles for our entire bath experience.  If you can relate to how important this is to a two-year old, this product is for you.

As you can see, someone gave it their full approval!

I am also really excited to try out the baby lotion with Baby Boy #2! I want to give baby massage a try with this little man, since I have learned there are numerous benefits like better sleep for the baby (hello, who doesn't want this), stronger bonds, facilitates body awareness, boosts the immune system, stimulates neurological and brain development, and can help with tummy troubles.  Do we need any more reasons?  Plus, watch this short video and just observe how much these sweet little babies love the power of touch!

Win It!

Want a chance to win these fabulous Seventh Generation Products?

I am giving away TWO Seventh Generation Wee Gift Baskets that include everything you see above!  All you have to do is be a follower of My First Baby Bump AND leave a comment telling me which product you are most excited to try!  Good luck!

Giveaway ends 11/12/12 at midnight!  Giveaway is open to residents of the United States only.

Disclosure:
I received a Seventh Generation gift basket and a stipend as part of the Motherhood, but all opinions are my own!

Sargento Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese!!!! And a Giveaway!!

I think I like cheese more than wine.  Yes, this is a bold statement.  Of course in a perfect world I would never have to choose.  I would drink wine with cheese all day long without a care in the world.  It is too bad a diet like that would require me to buy pants two sizes bigger and deal with a headache every morning.

But I think I have found a solution!  To half my problem anyway.  Sargento is offering their new Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese that is not going to break your calorie bank.  To put the new slices to the test, I found a recipe for quesadillas on their website.  I don't know about you, but my quesadillas need to be seriously cheesy for me to get involved.  I was nervous that the lower calorie count would subtract from the taste.  Rest assured that this is not the case.  The cheese melted perfectly and two slices were just the amount needed for a tasty snack.

Check out this recipe!

Avocado, Tomato, and Onion Quesadilla
  • 4 (10 inch) wraps
  • 8 slices Sargento Sliced Reduced Sodium Colby-Jack Cheese, cut in half diagonally
  • 2 avocados, halved, pitted, and sliced
  • 2 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
How to Make This:
  • Lay each wrap out on a flat cookie sheet
  • On one half of each wrap, place a layer of cheese and top with avocado, tomato and onion.  Top with another layer of cheese.  Fold in half to create a half-moon shape.
  • Place on a medium-high grill and cook until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3 minutes.
Here are my real life results:

Don't they look so good?  If you would like to try this recipe (or any of the other Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese recipes) then please leave a comment on this post.  One person will win 3 free product coupons for Sargento!  Winner will be chosen at random on Friday!

Now, can someone find me some calorie free wine??

Disclosure- I received products and compensation from Sargento Foods Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in this campaign.  However, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
