My New Obsession

Ryan's new favorite phrase of mine is, "I need to get my steps in."  Actually it is not.  I think he is over my new obsession.  But I am in love.  This little bracelet is AWESOME.  You wear it around your wrist and it counts your steps.  When you go to bed you can put it in sleep mode and it tracks your sleep; how many times you wake up and how many times you are restless.  It tells you how many miles you have walked, how many active minutes you had during the day, and how many calories you burned.

The best thing about this is that it all syncs to your phone and you can be friends with people who also have a fitbit.  So we do a lot of competitions at work which is why sometimes I find myself running the stairs of my house at night so I can compete with my co-workers.  I guess that it is the true con, it can be a little obsessive.  But mostly it has been eye opening.  I thought I was an active person but it turns out you really have to work to achieve 10,000 steps a day.  Oh, and if you do yoga it gives you about 4.5 steps for an hour! :)

Do you have a fitbit?  Lets be friends!

Seventh Generation Baby Plus Giveaway!

With a toddler in the house and a new baby on the way, I am constantly thinking about what I am putting on their skin and how I can keep them as healthy as possible!  Seventh Generation now has a new line of baby skin products that I had the pleasure of trying out!  The Baby Sunscreen, Baby Shampoo and Wash, Foaming Baby Shampoo and Wash, Bubble Bath, Baby Lotion, and Diaper Cream are all products I feel comfortable using on my babies.  Check out these facts:
  • First complete line of biobased baby care products
  • Endorsed by Healthy Child, Health World
  • Products are gluten-free
  • No synthetic fragrances, phthalates, or parabens
  • Tear free
  • Non-toxic, biodegradable
  • Made with natural ingredients that come from plants and minerals
  • Extra-virgin olive oil to moisturize and protect
I love the Foaming Baby Shampoo and Wash!  It is light, smells great, and logistically genius that the shampoo and wash are all in the same bottle.  Paul is also a huge fan of the Bubble Bath.  Using just a little of the product provided long lasting bubbles for our entire bath experience.  If you can relate to how important this is to a two-year old, this product is for you.

As you can see, someone gave it their full approval!

I am also really excited to try out the baby lotion with Baby Boy #2! I want to give baby massage a try with this little man, since I have learned there are numerous benefits like better sleep for the baby (hello, who doesn't want this), stronger bonds, facilitates body awareness, boosts the immune system, stimulates neurological and brain development, and can help with tummy troubles.  Do we need any more reasons?  Plus, watch this short video and just observe how much these sweet little babies love the power of touch!

Win It!

Want a chance to win these fabulous Seventh Generation Products?

I am giving away TWO Seventh Generation Wee Gift Baskets that include everything you see above!  All you have to do is be a follower of My First Baby Bump AND leave a comment telling me which product you are most excited to try!  Good luck!

Giveaway ends 11/12/12 at midnight!  Giveaway is open to residents of the United States only.

Disclosure:
I received a Seventh Generation gift basket and a stipend as part of the Motherhood, but all opinions are my own!

Sargento Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese!!!! And a Giveaway!!

I think I like cheese more than wine.  Yes, this is a bold statement.  Of course in a perfect world I would never have to choose.  I would drink wine with cheese all day long without a care in the world.  It is too bad a diet like that would require me to buy pants two sizes bigger and deal with a headache every morning.

But I think I have found a solution!  To half my problem anyway.  Sargento is offering their new Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese that is not going to break your calorie bank.  To put the new slices to the test, I found a recipe for quesadillas on their website.  I don't know about you, but my quesadillas need to be seriously cheesy for me to get involved.  I was nervous that the lower calorie count would subtract from the taste.  Rest assured that this is not the case.  The cheese melted perfectly and two slices were just the amount needed for a tasty snack.

Check out this recipe!

Avocado, Tomato, and Onion Quesadilla
  • 4 (10 inch) wraps
  • 8 slices Sargento Sliced Reduced Sodium Colby-Jack Cheese, cut in half diagonally
  • 2 avocados, halved, pitted, and sliced
  • 2 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
How to Make This:
  • Lay each wrap out on a flat cookie sheet
  • On one half of each wrap, place a layer of cheese and top with avocado, tomato and onion.  Top with another layer of cheese.  Fold in half to create a half-moon shape.
  • Place on a medium-high grill and cook until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3 minutes.
Here are my real life results:

Don't they look so good?  If you would like to try this recipe (or any of the other Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese recipes) then please leave a comment on this post.  One person will win 3 free product coupons for Sargento!  Winner will be chosen at random on Friday!

Now, can someone find me some calorie free wine??

Disclosure- I received products and compensation from Sargento Foods Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in this campaign.  However, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
