18 Weeks

According to The Bump:
Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

This is not a very cute picture of our baby. But hopefully it is growing in that uterus of mine! Went to the doctor yesterday and heard the heartbeat again. Our big ultrasound appointment is at the end of the month and I am still holding strong about keeping the sex a surprise! After the doctor we went to dinner and discussed we really didn't care if the babe was a boy or a girl as long as it wasn't a jerk! :) We have high expectations.

I only gained back the pound I lost last month, so the doctor told me to put on 5 pounds this month. It is SO WEIRD to be on this side of the weight situation, since my entire life has been spend trying to lose 5 pounds. Luckily Thanksgiving is in the mix, so I can probably gain 5 pounds in that one day.

Disappointing news is that my doctor is leaving the practice. She is leaving to give her full attention working to help educate teenagers about birth control. Don't you just love this woman? So she gave us a name of another woman she really likes in the practice and I am sure that will be fine. A little sad, but nothing we can't handle.

I have noticed that when people see me their eyes immediately move to my stomach area to see if it has grown. I assume this scenario is similar for those who have large breasts- but since I have never had the pleasure of experiencing serious hooters, I can only speculate.

Another cute nursery:

Why I am nervous to find out it is a girl:

22 weeks to go!

  1. I don't know who is telling you about positions but once you hit 8 or 9 months, it can be difficult to sleep on your back. The reason why is you may feel dizzy because the weight of your uterus rests on your abdominal aorta and can simply occlude (not completely) your blood supply. Don't listen to other people- they're fucking insane!

  2. Enjoy sleeping on your tummy as long as possible... once the baby bump turns into a baby mountain it will be more like the downward dog pose. After that when your milk comes in tummy sleeping turns into a waterfall if you know what I mean. The joys of motherhood!
