The New Year

I finally got myself off the couch yesterday to go to yoga.  NYE = too much of everything.  But this quote from Mother Theresa was read at the beginning of class:

I think all of us can tend to focus on the negative.  What was said to us or done to us.  What we don't have, who we don't see, what we can't do.  And I am guilty of this.  100% guilty.  But most of the time we just need a perspective shift.  A refocus on the positive.  Yes of course it seems like some people are born or in your life just to make you feel bad.  But we don't need to worry about those people.  Because I have lots of people in my world who love me and appreciate me right now.  Just like this.  When my house is a mess.  When my kids haven't taken a bath in 10 days.  When I just want to lay on the couch and watch the Sex in the City movie on repeat.

So, this year I hope you are kind and succeed and create and are happy and are good. It is possible some people won't appreciate these efforts.  But you will.  You feel better when you are nice to others.  When you have space to make something.  When you do something kind for someone else. And when you spread good energy, it helps you, it helps those around you and it makes the universe a place we want our children to grow up in.  This year I hope you focus on what's good and continue to share your special gifts with the world around you.

Happy 2015.
