Friday Favorties

ONE

Actually this is not my favorite, but Ryan beat everyone last week in our work weight loss challenge.  And I am annoyed.  He lost 8 pounds in one week.  Do you know the agony it takes for me to lose ONE pound?  I do not understand men.  And I am sure I should be supportive and happy for him and blah, blah, blah but COME ON! 

TWO

Charlie is obsessed with anything outside.  We all ate dinner outside last weekend when it was 75 degrees.  Now Charlie wants to do it ALL THE TIME.  Even when it is 45 degrees.  Even when he is all alone.  I love him. 

 THREE 

Last night Ryan played in the faculty vs. student basketball game at school.  At halftime the little boys got to join in the fun.  If you want your heart to swell with the goodness of the world, then combine 18 year olds and 4 and 2 year olds.  It's good stuff.

My friends and I took 6 boys to the zoo this week.  They LOVED it, but the gorilla eating romaine lettuce was the biggest hit.  

FOUR

Having my yoga besties over for dinner tonight for wine, more wine and maybe a little dinner.  I am making this dessert which of course I've never made before!  Hope it is good! 

FIVE

It is going going to be 73 degrees on Sunday.  Hello outside.

I organized a weight loss challenge at work that starts on Wednesday and lasts until the last Wednesday before school is out (about 11 weeks).  The buy in is $10 and any week you GAIN weight, you have to put in $3.  So any tips you have would be great.  Including how to beat my husband! :)

Daylight Savings.  

Actually I am not sure that this is a favorite because if anything disrupts my kid's sleep then I want to punch it in the throat.  And I mean it.  But I do like the idea of lighter evenings.  And daylight savings means it is just one step closer to SUMMER.

I am so excited for the weekend.  I know I say that every Friday, but I really mean it this time.  We have plans with friends both nights and I want to sit on the couch and READ.

Although Paul looks like he is in pain, I love these dudes cuddling up on the couch.  They are just the sweetest and growing up TOO fast.  Ryan took Paul to buy new shoes the other night after we discovered his toes were literally jammed up to the edge of the old ones (oops).  Now he looks like he is 13 and I am sad.  

Also, last night Charlie was sitting at the counter while Ryan and I were talking and he started singing to himself.  Ryan thought it was the ABCs.  But you know what it was?  I am almost embarrassed to say.  Taylor Swift- Shake it off.  He was singing the "play play play" part and when I chimed in with "Shake it Off" he was PUMPED to do the "oooo ooooo."  It was hilarious and now it is evident we listen to that song too often.

Friday Favorites

Thank you Friday!  I am so excited you are here.  It is rough going back to work after 2 weeks off. And our students have finals next week, so there is a lot of missing assignment requests, total freak outs, and negotiations.  #winetime.  In all honesty, it is nice to get back into a routine but I am ready to sit on the couch and VEG this weekend.  And the poor boys are ready for that too.  Charlie has given me the death stare everyday this week that I have had to wake him up! :)

Anyway, here are some Friday favorites.

1. Blanket Scarfs.  Now I don't actually own one of these but they look pretty cool.  But

is it so much fabric it will strangle my face and choke me?  Please weigh in.

2. Nicole Kidman and Jimmy Fallon.  Ryan showed me this and we were dying with laughter!

3. I finished Serial and I love it so so so so much.  I cannot wait for Season 2.

4. I sent this to all my friends New Years Eve.  Because this is just the truth.

Thank goodness Friday is here!  The week has gone by really fast but BUSY!  Here are my Friday Favorites: 

What I'm Laughing At:

This book is seriously the best.  READ IT.  

What I'm Loving: 

Paul's new obsession with taking pictures.  When we were running errands Tuesday he told me we should take a picture for Daddy! 

Nap time.  These two usually love each other and they would DIE to sleep with each other.  But would they sleep??

Paul is READY for Christmas!  We are finally going to put up all our decorations this weekend and I know he's going to LOVE it.

Friday Favorites

I have a really important question: are those pictures of Kim Kardashian real?  For real, real?  I need answers.

And another question while I am asking.  What do you all make if you are having people over?  Not a formal dinner party, but you are just having a co-worker over with their kids (for example).  We usually do pizza and a salad and wine (duh) because most people like it and it is easy for the kids, but is there something I could make to spruce these dinners up a bit?  Not time consuming and kid friendly?  Let me know!

Here are some Friday favorites:

1. Bare minerals make-up.  I wore this for years and then switched things up.  I just went back to my old favorite and I really like it!


2. Rodan and Fields! I received this text messages yesterday from one of my clients!  I've had bad skin for basically my whole life, and I know that feeling of relief when you feel like something is finally working!

3. This article had me laughing.  I know I am the default parent because of the tasks I perform in the shower, I always know the wrapping paper situation in my house and I am the one to switch old clothes and seasons out of the boy's drawers! 

4. It has been SO COLD in Colorado, like take your breath away cold.  For example, it is currently 9 degrees.  I mean seriously.  The high today is 41 which will feel like a warm summer day.  But this weekend is still pretty chilly.  So I hope to lay on the couch and drink hot tea and read books.

This week has been long.  Pretty sure I had a fall break hangover.  Between that and daylight savings, lets just say the whole house is happy Friday is here.  I am off today with Charlie and we had a great day visiting with a friend, doing some errands, and lunching together.  Winning.

I used to pretend I didn't like Taylor Swift.  The lying has to stop.  I love the album.  I just do.  I play it in yoga, I play it in my classroom and even the boys love to dance party to Shake it Off.  

I saw these words of wisdom from this blog and I just couldn't agree more.  

I would love this for my closet or bathroom.  Perfect! 

And a cute little picture of my Charlie man in California.  We were eating sandwiches by the pool and that little stinker took a pickle right out of my hand and did this for 20 minutes.

Friday Favorites!

Well I have to say, the thing I am most excited about today is FALL BREAK!! 

In just a few short hours I will be celebrating with a Bud Light.  ONE WEEK off.  No where to be, no one to answer to, just hanging out with my favorite dudes.  Of course I have some plans.  Like get a pedicure.  And clean our baseboards.  Seriously, that is on my list.  But mostly I want to read and play and enjoy the boys!

Good things I've read this week: 
1. This article about firepitting your marriage and children- always saving the "good" stuff for when you have friends over.  This really hit home for me!

2. Bad at something?  Do it anyway! Loved this and it had the "F" word quite a bit!

3. This made me cry.  Be nice to yourself and enjoy life- What the dying really regret.

I read this book in a day and a half.  I couldn't put it down.  It is depressing and amazing all in one! Check it out!!

We are getting a new library in our town which is much needed, and this week they had a special story hour at the site where the new library will go.   The mayor read a story about Construction and then the kids received plastic hard hats and got to dig in little pools of gravel for BOOKS!  Talk about an adventure.  Then they all were lifted up into a bulldozer to honk the horn.  A very good day that combined the two favorites of my children: books and dirt! 

Finally we had parent teacher conferences last night and of course I spent 80 hours looking in front of my closet figuring out what to wear.  Thank the lord I have an iphone and can text mirror pictures of myself to girlfriends for outfit approval.  What did we do before technology??  I was worried the scarf (from Forever 21) was overwhelming, but I rocked it regardless!
