How Does the Weekend Go So Fast?????

The sun is shining, we found our shorts that mostly fit, and the weekend flew by!!

Friday night I hosted some yogi friends over for dinner to celebrate Kelsey's baby #2!  There was lots of wine, laughter and I think we ate food?  We had a great time and the boys played nicely in the basement.

Paul was DYING to meet my friends, and then came up when he figured everyone was here.  He turned real shy but then we heard him yelling at Ryan down the basement stairs, "I saw them, I saw them!" Oh sweet boy!

Saturday morning I took Charlie to a little gym class where he kicked balls, played with bubbles and made new friends.  He LOVED it and it made me feel bad that I hadn't done this with him before. That guys loves one on one time!

After naps Paul DEMANDED we make his Star Student Poster. He had been begging to do it since Wednesday so we could "just get it done" which really made me feel like he was my child!  This week he gets to share 8 pictures on a poster with his class.  I really tried to let go of control and let him pick his eight pictures.  So that is why there are no current pictures of Charlie and Peyton Manning made the cut.  Oh 4 year olds.

Sunday was beautiful.  I just love this weather.  We walked to the grocery store, we went to the park, we played in the backyard and even ate dinner outside.  Oh summer, come to me!

Weekend ReCap

Although daylight savings is hard on the soul, who loves the light at the end of the day?! :)

Friday Ryan had some dinner plans with some co-workers, so Paul had a friend over and I think they got every single toy we own out of the playroom.  But they had a ton of fun and even let Charlie play, so all was good.

Saturday I woke up to teach the boy's swim team yoga again.  They are wild and talk just as much or more than girls.  It's hilarious.  Paul had a birthday party that he loved and after they sang Happy Birthday Paul announced, "That was AWESOME!"
After the party we were able to to meet our friends for an impromptu bloody mary (me, not Paul).

Saturday night I was in my pajamas by 8:30 pm and fell asleep while the boys watched Finding Nemo.  #success.

Sunday we had another birthday party for our sweet friends and their 1 year old!  Then I got to meet another friend for another bloody mary.  Do you sense a theme?  I got home around 4:30 and it was so light outside we took a family walk around the block!
This is just a little preview to summer.  Some beers in to go cups, strollers, scooters... I just love it all!

We came back for bubbles!

And then ended the night with some good ole fashioned coloring.
Poor Charlie looked like he was in a daze when we had to wake him up this morning!

Odds and Ends!

#1) Have you all had cinnamon sugar toast?  We made this with my dad growing up.  It was very labor intensive.  First you had to toast the bread.  Then spread butter.  Then sprinkle sugar on your bread and carefully shake off any excess.  Then add cinnamon.  It was delightful.  My dad passed this delicious treat on to Paul and then found this at the grocery store.  Someone was smart and mixed cinnamon and sugar into the actual butter.  Paul is a huge fan.  Welcome home diabetes.

2) Adnan Syed was granted an appeal?   And when does the second series of Serial come out?  I am so excited!!

3) I have been going to the gym more than yoga lately (shocker).  It is really because I can go to the gym anytime I want to and don't have to wait for a specific class.  Sometimes this means I go at 5:00 in the morning.  It is exhausting.  Anyway, I obviously roll out of bed, throw some gym clothes on and go.  However, are you aware that some women wear a full face of make-up to the gym?  At 5:00 in the morning?  Why?  Don't people just sweat that off?  It is very confusing.

4) This was my Sunday afternoon.  The kids were napping and the snow was falling.  I was reading a book and People and drinking hot chocolate.  Heaven.

5) Ryan and I watched FIVE hours of The Bachelor Monday night.  FIVE.  It was about 4.5 too many.  Kelsey = crazy.  Britt = crazy.  Not sure about virgin and I like Whitney but unsure how she will be a fertility nurse in a town of 15.

Any interesting things happen to you this week?

3 Day Weekend Wrap-Up!

Is there anything better than a 3-day weekend?  I think not!  We are back at school today, but it is an inservice so no students.  A nice ease-in back to the week!

I posted this on Instagram for the big Valentine's weekend and I still think it is pretty funny!

Friday we did nothing and it was glorious.  We each went to the gym, the kids watched a movie, I drank a half glass of wine and fell asleep.

Saturday Ryan's mom took Paul to the museum so Charlie and I walked to do a few errands.  Look at that cutie with cookie all over his face from the grocery store!

When Paul got home he helped me bake a heart shaped cake and I am sure you can guess who was in charge of the sprinkles.

We had our friends over and I should have taken pictures of the pizzas pre-cooking because they were cuter and shaped like a heart.  Doesn't look like anything post oven! :)

There were lots of boys.  Charlie took sometime on the floor and then joined the crew on the couch.

There is nothing I love more than tons of people at my house, lots of noise, wine consumption and laughs.  All my needs were met Saturday night.

Sunday was rough.  I made myself go to yoga and then parked it on the couch for the rest of the day.  We did make it out to our friend's house Sunday night for more fun with kids and Valentine's suckers.

Monday it snowed so Paul found a little art project my mom had given him for Christmas.  He let Charlie watch.

Then Ryan gave the boys haircuts.  I wanted Ryan to take Charlie to get his haircut and pay a ridiculous amount of money.  Charlie has great hair.  Amazing hair.  I wanted a frat boy/I play lacrosse look.  A little long but cleaned up around the ears and the back.  Ryan claimed that he could probably just do it.  He buzzed Paul's and then was ready to tackle Charlie.

Guess what?  It turns out Ryan did not attend cosmetology school, and perhaps does not know how to achieve the long surfer dude haircut I was desperately wanting.  Charlie ended up with a VERY similar haircut to Paul's.  I am still sad.

I know it is ridiculous because it is just hair.... but he looks so different.  Ryan felt bad and PROMISED he would take him to get it cut next time.  Hopefully I will be over this epic disaster soon.  But no promises!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday blog friends!  I am pretty pumped that I already worked out this morning, but that probably means I will be exhausted by 3:00 pm. Take a little give a little.

We had a great weekend filled with lots of friends.  Friday night our friends who have a girl Paul's age and a boy Charlie's age came over.  Listen.  I have 2 boys.  I am totally satisfied.  I am not going to have a third baby to try and have a girl because I would have a boy and then my house would literally blow up due to toddler boy destruction. However, there is something about a girl.  Who wears bows and headbands.  And who listens.  And is quiet.  Paul, Charlie and Ellie were on the couch and Paul and Charlie started arguing about a toy they both wanted to have and we heard Ellie say "Boys.  You need to share."  AND THEN THEY DID.  Seriously it was like a little angel on my couch.  Second best thing of the night?  Paul and Ellie came in the kitchen and told me to close my eyes because they had a big surprise.  A big surprise in 4 year old language isn't necessarliy something I get excited about.  Paul poops in the toilet and all of a sudden it's a big surprise.  So imagine my shock when they led me into the spotless playroom they had just cleaned up.  Come over everyday Ellie.  Amen.

Easton thought all of this was a little boring and was perfectly satisfied laying on my disgusting dog hair filled floor watching the iphone.  I feel you man.

Saturday Ryan and I woke up and took the kids to the gym.  We have to bribe them to go to the kid's center by promising a donut afterwards.  Stupid but it works! :)  Then we came home, napped and got ready for a fun one year old birthday party.  Paul thought it was necessary to bring along the glow sticks I picked up at the Target dollar bin.  One year old birthdays usually mean rave to me too.  The big kids had a great time dancing and using their glow sticks as guns, swords and whatever other weapon they could think of.

Sunday we woke up and were surprised to find a ton of snow on the ground.  I wrestled the kids into their snow clothes which only took 37 minutes and a meltdown by Charlie.  Paul had a great time sledding and Charlie hated everything.  Hated his jacket and boots and wouldn't put on his mittens.  So I took the Char man home and Ryan and Paul had wonderful morning.

After I took a million years to get Charlie undressed, I threw in a load of laundry and found him like this.  Asleep on our family room floor with his hand down his pants.  Sledding for 30 seconds takes it out me me too dude.

The kids napped, Ryan and I got some wings and fries and put the Superbowl on.  The boys sort of ruined any relaxing laying on the couch Sunday football but it was nice to have a low key night.

Happy Monday to all!

Weekend Recap!

There is no reason for this except that I think it is hilarious!!

We were really going to lay low this weekend but then ended up being quite busy #ofcourse
This weekend was dedicated to the LADIES (my favorite) and it was so fun to connect with some fabulous women!

Friday, my yoga friend Jill came over and we accidentally drank too much wine and had take out sushi and laughed quite a bit!

Saturday morning I woke up to teach the swim team yoga again (last one- sad) and then came home to complain how tired I was.  I finally motivated to take a yoga class myself and then did a few errands.  Saturday night I had a dinner party with my girlfriends from work.  It is an annual tradition, and something I always look forward to.  Smart women with good food and lots of wine = perfection!  Paul asked what I was doing when I was leaving and I explained I was going to have dinner with my girlfriends.  He asked their names and when I listed everyone attending he paused and said, "That's a lot.  There is going to be a lot of talking."  True story Paul.

Sunday Ryan found himself with a single ticket to the Bronco game.  We decorated the house with a Bronco flag and the life size Peyton.  Too bad the ending is not what we hoped for but I think he had a good time (he is currently sulking in the basement, but I am sure he had fun for at least a bit. Ha)

Headed to work this morning, but this week we have finals Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and so only have half days.  Life isn't bad!

Happy Monday to you!

Best Parts of Winter Break

I love breaks from work SO MUCH.  It is incredible to lay low.  To calm down.  To not be rushed out of the door and to let the kids sleep.  Seriously, Charlie has been so sad all this week because we have had to wake him up at 6:30 when he was sleeping in until 8:30.  I am sure Friday when I am off he will be up and ready to go at an unreasonable time. That is just how that works!

In no particular order, here is my list of the best parts of Winter Break:

1) Took a train ride with Santa.  We had no idea what to expect and next year I need to dress warmer, not take one car with 8 people (car sickness is real) and bring more snacks.  But Santa sat and chatted with us for a long time, gave the kids bells and they were excited.  We did this the day before Christmas Eve which only added to the excitement!

2) Watched Home Alone.  I had this great idea in my head about how fun this movie would be but I forgot it is a little scary and the language isn't great (shut up, moron, jerk).  Oops.  But Charlie loved it!

3) After brunch at my parent's house on Christmas morning, the kids took really long naps and then we were playing in the basement.  Charlie went upstairs and when I went to go look for him I found he had opened the garage door, pointing to Ryan's car chanting "G.  G.  G." (my dad).  I guess he wanted us to drive him right on over there.

4) Our sweet friends had us over the day after Christmas and made us brunch and bloody marys and we had a great time recapping all our holidays!  I got cute Delilah this chef outfit for Christmas and she made us lots of snacks!

5) I go a little crazy after Christmas when all this new stuff is in your house and the tree is taking up so much space and I just feel like the walls are closing in on me.  I took down Christmas fast and bought a new rug!  It brightens up the place and with a few new pillows on the couch I am feeling much better.  I have mental problems!

6) We met our friends at the museum a snowy morning.  There was a cool lego exhibit and they loved playing in the kiddo area.  We had lunch and it was a great way to spend the morning and get out of the house!

7) We went to go see Big Hero 6.  We brought 2 cars just in case Charlie couldn't handle sitting still for 2 hours.  However, we learned if we give Charlie a box of junior mints, he can do just about anything!  When we left I noticed he had streaks of chocolate down his neck and in his ear.  But he had a good time!

8) I caught up reading ALL my magazines! I had a huge stack.  And I made myself sit on the couch and read through each one.  It was amazing.

9) I listened to the podcast Serial.  I know I am late to this party but it is amazing!  I just finished it today.  LOVE.  If you haven't jumped on this train you need to.  TODAY.

10) Saw 2 movies- Horrible Bosses and Wild.  Way different but both entertaining!

11) Sleeping in!  Everyone slept in!  In fact I think I woke up before everyone everyday.  It was amazing to have some quiet time in the morning and amazing to let the sweet boys wake up when they wanted!

11) Our fun friends The Kearneys were in town and came over for lunch one day.  They have 3 boys.  And brought their nephew.  So there were 6 boys.  SIX.  It was loud and crazy and I loved it.  It was funny that the adults just continued to talk over the constant noise.  I think we are all used to it!

12) But my favorite part of break was just laying on the couch with my boys and watching them play.  It was amazing to hang out and have nothing pressing on the calendar!

Oh Winter Break, I already miss you!!

What We Did This Weekend!

I feel like I have been on an extended weekend because of Winter Break (I'll talk more about our favorites of break later this week) but I thought I would quickly share what we did this weekend!

Friday night started with seeing WILD!  We both really liked it.  When I walked out of the theater I liked the movie, but I liked it even more now that I have thought about it and let it digest.

I taught yoga to the high school swim team (cue 20 teen girls all talking at the same time) and then Charlie caught up with some work.

Ryan had plans Saturday night, so my friend came over with her three sweet girls who played with my boys all night and then.... CLEANED UP THE ENTIRE PLAYROOM.   So I love them and would like them to come over every Saturday night.

Sunday consisted of yoga, of laundry and rushing to get everything done before the big day. The big day back to work.  Bittersweet for sure.  Luckily for me, my part time schedule doesn't have me back until Tuesday so I still get one more day.  Ryan was not amused by this news, so I snuck out last night and had wine with my yoga gals.  I am basically the nicest wife in town.

Happy Monday!  I am certainly sad to go back to work and will miss the lazy days of break, but it will nice to get back to a routine and maybe stop eating and drinking everything in my house.  Here's to hoping.
What did you do this weekend?
