Friday Random Update

Also, are these cute?  I'm asking the real important questions today. 

I'm reading this for book club.  Don't even know if it is good yet because I just started and book club is Tuesday.  Oops.

Charlie is 14 months old.  How did this happen?  We are in that really fun stage where he whines all the time because he can't talk or express what he wants.  I must of blocked this out from Paul.  Luckily, he is so cute and makes the most adorable face when you ask him to "cheese."  He eats constantly.  He smiles at everyone and he loves to give wet open mouth kisses.  I love that kid.

Paul on the other hand, talks constantly, is into fantasy with his airplanes and loves to tell me what kids say potty words at school.  I had to buy him some new clothes because all of a sudden his pants were too short and the arms of his shirts were only reaching his elbows.  So he is getting taller.  But not any fatter.

The weather was so nice last weekend that we spent much of it outside, which was great for my little sick household to air everyone out.  We also had the house cleaned this week which I am pretty sure made me the happiest I have ever been.

We are watching the next season of House of Cards and it is so good.  I mean the first episode?  Shocking.

And as I am writing this, Charlie is pouring dry spaghetti on the floor and Paul is trying to ride the dog.  Is it wine time yet?

How is it February?

January was perhaps the fastest month ever.  EVER. But that it is fine because it is one month closer to warmer weather and the ability to send my kids outside without spending 30 minutes bundling them up.  Is it even worth it at that point?

On another note, how in the hell do people blog everyday?  Where is the time?  I guess if I stopped watching Vanderpump Rules I would have an extra hour. 

Anyway, here is what we've been up to!  I got to go to Texas and meet sweet baby Vivian.  If possible, she is cuter in person than she is on social media, and my iphone now has 800 pictures of her.  And now I will share an inapporpriate amount. 

We obviously started the trip with Bloody Marys.  I was a little sick and vodka helped.  Then I managed to get everyone sick including the baby.  I'm a gift that keeps on giving.

 It was 70 degrees in Austin.  I got sunburned for goodness sake.  Then we came home to snow.  Lots of snow.  We took the boys sledding and Paul loved it.  Charlie was so bundled up he couldn't walk, which was hilarious to me but not so much him. 

 
It was also Grandmas birthday so we sent her a singing video.  I love Paul's impression of Charlie!

And then last night was the Superbowl.  If you know us in real life, you know that Ryan is a true Bronco fan.  He didn't want to have a party because what if someone was talking and he missed a play????  So, his depression is real.  This little dude didn't care about the game, but loved eating dip.

Christmas 2013

Well a little late on the Christmas post but I want to share these pictures!!  We had a great Christmas this year, mostly because this sort of Santa situation is the best thing ever with a THREE year old.  The bribery was nice with the Elf on the Shelf and the "Santa is watching you" and the excitement was contagious!

We celebrated with Ryan's side of the family the Sunday before Christmas.  I drank wine and held the boy's new cousin Eli, so I had a great time! The boys had fun opening gifts (well Paul had fun since he opened all of his, all of Charlie's, and probably all of mine).  We had a good dinner and a nice celebration. 

Christmas Eve we went out to dinner just the four of us.  It was perfect.  We had cocktails and good food and the boys were so good.  Then we drove around and looked at people's Christmas lights.  Some people are incredible.  And their electric bill must be CRAZY.  We came home and put Charlie to bed and then Paul decorated Christmas cookies.  He was very serious about this and knew just what Santa would want. 

We put Paul to bed, watched Christmas Vacation and wrapped all our other stuff!  Paul woke up around 6:30 and was more worried about Santa's cookies then the presents.  We grabbed Charlie and headed downstairs where Paul was impressed with his art easel, his Jessie doll from Toy Story and his marble run.  Charlie didn't know what the heck was happening, but he still seemed excited.

We hung around a bit and then headed over to my parent's house for brunch.  That's where all these pictures are taken from because apparently I don't know how to use a camera.  My parent's got Paul a two seater jeep, as they told us it was their dream for Paul and Charlie to drive together around their neighborhood some day.  The jeep is staying at their house.  We had great food, opened a lot of presents, and then drank champagne.   We headed home for nap time (everyone) and then had a quiet dinner at home!

Halloween 2013

This is how we do Halloween at our house.  Yes, that is a box of wine. 

 

Last year at Halloween, I was pregnant with Charlie.  And the boys had a wonderful idea to fill a cooler with Coors Light and drink a few beverages while the kids when trick or treating.  So this year I did not want to miss out on celebrating this wonderful holiday with a few drinks.  Or a box.

My mom bought Paul a Buzz Lightyear costume a few months ago that he does not like taking off.  So his outfit was decided long ago.  I looked hard for a Woody outfit for Charlie to match our Toy Story theme (although I didn't look that hard) but didn't find anything.  So the day of Halloween I just decided Charlie could be the monkey Paul was when he was younger.  However, it must have slipped my mind that the monkey outfit was made for 0-6 months.  And Charlie has a huge booty.  But we squeezed that sucker on and he looked pretty cute in my opinion!

Kathy and I picked up the boys at school and took them trick or treating down Mainstreet.  They were a little unsure at first, but once they realized people gave them candy they literally asked every single adult they encountered for a treat. 

Then we all met back at our house.  Our other friends came over with Noah (superman) and we had some pizza. 

The men took the big boys out and about and they totally scored in the candy department.  Meanwhile, the ladies stayed home with the babies!  We drank wine, listened to 90's hits, and overall had a great time!  Happy Halloween (11 days later)!

We spent Labor Day in Estes Park with great weather, an excited 3 year old and a happy baby!  Thank goodness my dad takes pictures or else I would have nothing to show for our adventure!

5 Things on a Saturday

Why can't I blog????  Oh yes, it is because I have two boys who demand quite a bit of attention.  My summer is coming to an end and although some days have been challenging to keep everyone entertained, I am so sad.  I love waking up with these boys, chugging coffee, watching cartoons, giving Charlie a bottle, watching them play with one another.  In another week it will be a race around the clock to get everyone dressed, packed, lunches made, and out the door.  But we have to pay the bills! 

Here's a quick summary of what has been going on:

1. Charlie turns 8 months TODAY.  I will try to put that post up before I return to work.  I can't believe he's 8 months.  He still has lots of hair, big blue eyes, and a smile that can't help make you a happier person.  We love him. 

2.  Paul loves Charlie.  Every single morning, the first thing Paul asks is "where's Charlie?"  He hugs him, helps him clap, puts his pacifier in, etc.  Paul does get a little angry when Charlie touches or perhaps looks too long at one of his toys, but overall I love watching them interact with one another.

3.  My friend Sarah came over last night with her two kiddos and I made a post-it note of all the things we needed to discuss.  We BARELY made it through the list.  Kids wanted to eat, drink, go the bathroom, watch them jump, get this and that from the toy room, etc.  Over are the days were we can finish a story or an entire thought before someone interrupts us.  Oh well.  The kids love each other.  And it has been so fun this summer because Sarah's husband and Ryan have both been working Friday nights, so we've had these Friday night play dates quite a bit!  It is making the arranged marriage between Paul and Delilah a lot easier. 

4. Don't you just love school supplies?  On my list this weekend is to get some new grading pens and mechanical pencils!  I don't really want to do the grading, but I'll love my new pens!

5. Paul has been obsessed with Bill Nye, the Science Guy.  We downloaded a video about mammals for Paul, since he loves animals.  Well, hello science.  There are live births of cows, lambs, puppies, etc.  Sex education for a three year old is quite hysterical.  One of the facts about mammals is that they have hair.  They also drink milk from their moms.  In one point in the video, the narrator explains that sometimes you have to help the baby find the mom's nipple so they can start to eat.  Paul LOVES to repeat that line.  He takes his stuffed monkey to my arm, belly button, leg and says, "Sometimes you have to help the baby find the nipple.  HAHAHAHAH, I said nipple."  Is this already starting?  Yes.

4th of July!

Well I am almost a month late.  That's pretty good!

On the 3rd of July, we went to the Rockies game which should have included an incredible display of fireworks at the end of some baseball.  Guess who did not make it to these incredible fireworks?  US.  I guess I don't know exactly what we were thinking, have Paul sit for an hour plus on the light rail and then sit at the game for awhile and then sit and wait until it was completely dark and then sit for the fireworks.  Paul doesn't like to sit.  But we received an A for effort! :)  Maybe next year.  Or in three years!

At one point, Paul started crying because he was over it, and people were cheering, and it was just time for us to get out of there.  All of a sudden a man walked down our row.  Initially I thought he was confused where his seat was, as there were no seats open in our row.  But actually he came to give Paul a brand new baseball!  Then he left almost as fast as he appeared.  Strangers are so nice.  Seriously.

On the actual 4th, our friends met at our house for an early morning round of bloody mary's and mimosas.  We hit up the neighborhood parade for a little bit, ran through the sprinklers and then headed over to a BBQ.  It was a great day filled with good food and good friends!

We had a great holiday filled with some of our own traditions!  Can't wait for next year!
