Friday Favorites

It's Friday y'all!  Here are my favorites from the week!

#1)
Paul had the letter basket this week at school and of we were assigned the letter "U."  We had to find things around the house that started with that letter.  He was so excited to bring UNDERWEAR to school.  He just knew his friends would think that was hilarious.  And they did.

#2)
I think these mantra bracelets are so sweet.  A friend gave them to another friend, and they look especially nice stacked on top of one another!

#3)
This next thing is actually not my favorite, but hilarious.  It is no secret that every Monday night Ryan and I have a date with the Bachelor.  We have watched this show together for YEARS and it's dumb and ridiculous but it is just what we do.  One of the things that kills me every year is the sound of SMACKING lips when people kiss on the show.  It is as if they turn up the microphones so you can really hear it.  Gross.  Disgusting.  Nails on a chalkboard.  And here is a little video that highlights my biggest cringe moments.

#4)
Now I like Christina Aguilera.

#5)
And if you are wondering what I will be doing all day, all night this weekend.. it is this:

Have a wonderful Friday and fabulous weekend!

Musical Fashion

Alright, lets talk Grammy fashion my friends.  Now I realize the Grammy's can be a little more casual or unusual, but I still have some opinions (shocker).  Here we go:

THE BEST:
1. Katie Perry.  Not everyone can pull off purple hair.  Like me for example.  But she can.  I think her dress is cute and she looks amazing.

2. Miranda Lambert.  I'm not 100% in love with her hair, but I think her dress is flattering and she is looking great!!

3. Beyonce.  Can Beyonce do wrong?

4. Gwen.  There was a lot of commentary over the fact that Gwen was without her trademark red lips, but I liked the change and her jumpsuit.  #idieforonepieces

NOT THE BEST:
1. Rihanna.  A lot of people liked this dress but lets talk logistics.  Where did she sit?  Was she assigned two seats?  One for her and one for the dress?  Her face looks really pretty and fresh but that dress is A LOT.  A lot of volume.  Seriously people, how did she sit down?

2.  Iggy.  I am not even sure about Iggy's dress because I am distracted by the huge braid around her forehead.

3.  Madonna.  How old is Madonna again?  I don't want to talk any shit about my material girl, but hello.  Dress your age.  Yes you have an amazing body.  Yes we all know it, but you look straight up ridiculous in this get-up.

4.  Let me tell you a story.  Have I already told this one?  When my mom and I went wedding dress shopping for my wedding, there was another girl shopping without her mother.  Instead she was with her friends.  This is a catastrophic mistake.  This girl would come out of the dressing room in a particular dress and her friends would tell her how amazing she looked.  Of course this sounds nice, but for something as important as a wedding dress you need some cold hard truth.  This is the dress in  pictures for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.  You cannot be told what you want to hear. You have to hear the truth.  Anyway, that is what I feel like happened to Katharine Mcphee's hair. Some girlfriend told her that this slicked down homely look was really fetch.  Sorry to be mama bear Katharine, but it is not your best look.

NOT SURE WHAT I THINK:
1. Taylor.  I love me some T.Swift and I am sure this is edgy and everything, but I can't convince myself I totally like it.

What were your favorites?

Oh, I have one more favorite.  Annie Freaking Lennox.  She is the real deal and ROCKED it Sunday night.  I love her.

My Favorite Blogs

I love waking up early in the morning and having my hot coffee alone and catching up on my favorite blogs!  Here are some of my favorites... I read more than this but I get excited when I see these people have posted.  My favorite blogger stopped blogging.  She should reconsider.  Anyway.....

These are people I know in real life:
Jenn of The Kearney Good Life!  She has 3 boys.  Cameron is 6 and her twins are 3 and she gives me good perspective of raising boys.  And gives me good recommendations on planners.

Kendra of My Full-Thyme Life!  Kendra and I went to high school together and she has a boy and a girl very similar in my children's ages.  I feel like we go through similar stages and issues with our kiddos, so it is nice to confirm what I am already feeling! :)

Janet from Love is Blonde.  I LOVE when Janet posts.  She has twin boys, a month older than Charlie who are the cutest dudes you have ever seen and frankly I just love what Janet writes!

Karlyn from The Taylor Tots.  Karlyn is actually Janet's sister and she has two boys that are almost the exact ages of Paul and Charlie.  I like boy moms.  Karlyn is smart and kind and I love looking at pictures of her sweet family!!

Food Blogs :
Caitlin of the Healthy Tipping Point!  She has great vegetarian recipes, she has a little boy, I like her writing style and she started something called Operation Beautiful which encourages woman/people/whoever to leave little sticky notes of encouragement about life or the way they look anywhere strangers could find them.  I think this messages is especially important for high school girls, so I love reading about her passion of spreading positivity.

Tina of Carrots N' Cake.  She is really in to cross fit, her husband is a teacher, and she does a great job of balancing the fun and healthy choices!

Family Blogs:
Julia of My Life in Transition.  Julia just had her third baby and she takes great pictures and does a great job blogging about the normal day to day routine of raising a family!

Kelle of Enjoying the Small Things.  I love this blog SO much.  The pictures are amazing, the writing is incredible, and it just lifts you up and makes you feel better after you have read a post from this blog!

Fashion Blog:
Pinterest Told Me To is awesome. This is a blog about Sheaffer trying to recreate outfits she sees on Pinterest with her own closet.  But more importantly, her recaps on the Bachelor/Bachelorette are to DIE for.

Fun Blogs:
Shay from Mix and Match Family.  Speaking of the Bachelor, this is the blog of Sean Lowe's sister. She is sweet as can be and blogs about her kids, fashion, what she makes for dinner, house decor, etc.
Andrea from Momfessionals.  She has 3 kiddos, is a teacher and friends with the two blogs above. She has a funky style and is a busy mama and I enjoy her blog quite a bit!

Famous Blog:
I am sure you all have heard of Glennon from Momastery.  Her writing hits home for many moms and she is HILARIOUS.  She wrote a book that I still need to read but is sitting on my nightstand.

I Just Like It Blog:
Sarah from Whoorl.  Fashion, family, health, whatever.  I like how Sarah writes, her hair is amazing and I always feel like I can learn a little something from her blog!

Whew!  What are your favorite blogs?  I would love a little more reading material in the morning!: )

It's Friday and I Saw a Movie!

I don't have much for you today because I saw Gone Girl last night and got home WAY past my bedtime.  But it was really good and REALLY creepy and I even locked the garage door on my way in.  I thought it did the book justice and that is saying A LOT.

I still want to see the movie, This is Where I Leave You.  Maureen and I just discovered this is a book since she is reading it for book club this month.  Obviously I already have it on hold at the library.

And I am so excited for WILD!

What about you?  Any movies you are excited to see?  Are you planning to see Gone Girl?  Have a wonderful weekend!

It's FRIDAY!!

Ryan and I get to drink beer with other adults tonight.  But they are younger than us.  Like still in their 20's younger.  And they wanted to meet at 7.  SEVEN??????????  I go to bed at 8.  How will I ever stay up that late?  I actually talked them down to meet at 6:00.  Whew.  I am feeling much better about the situation #imsofreakingold

Here are my really random Friday favorites!
Old Navy has a cute few fall clothing options.  I feel like Old Navy is a store that you HAVE to try on before you purchase, or be prepared for a return trip.  Also, are turtleneck's cool?  I need to research this more.

I read this article the other day from the depths of the Internet about the importance of coconut oil. Basically you are going to die tomorrow if you don't get on board with the coconut oil situation.  One suggestion was to put a teaspoon in your coffee in the morning.  Just did it and I couldn't taste it at all!  I will now probably live to be 100.

My friend Katie bought this book for our friend's baby shower and it is SO CUTE.  I bought it for Charlie's birthday.  In December.

Finally, I read this book over the summer.  I was just looking through my "notes" in my phone and found a quote I had written from the very end of the book:

"There was nothing in life harder or more important than agreeing every morning to stay the course, to go back to your forgotten self of so many years ago, and to make the same decision.  Marriage, like ships, needed steering, and steady hands at the wheel."

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Favorites!

Sometimes short weeks seems like long weeks.  Am I right?

But my favorite day is here and it is raining in Colorado this morning and all I want to do is curl up on the couch with a blanket and my coffee and read PEOPLE magazine while the Today Show is on in the background.  Instead, I will go and entertain teenagers and try to teach them something.

This blog is so flipping awesome because even though not a lot of people read it, my family does.  And so who got themselves a faux fur vest?  This gal.  My mom is a shopper, always been a shopper and she likes to be on the hunt for something.  So one day this week I get several text messages, all pictures of fur vests from my little shopper.  Of course she was already out of the store before I could answer, so what does that lady do?  Go the next day to make a purchase.  She would make a great personal assistant.  It is still a little warm to wear the vest, but I'll be sure to take a picture when I do.

My dad is actually similar in this way.  Sometime this summer I mentioned I wanted to read the book Quiet.  And what do you know, the next time I was at their house, the book was waiting for me on the counter.  My dad will say, oh it just happened to be at the store when I was there, even if he had to travel to six different places to find it.

And a shout out to my sweet husband who also is a dedicated reader to this blog.  When he read the post about my fashion desires, he quickly text messaged the best shopper I know, Maureen.  He wanted to surprise me with a little present but was shocked when he searched for fur vests and found they were over 1,000 dollars.  Ryan, welcome to the word "faux."  Anyway, he told Maureen he wanted to get me something since I work so hard and Maureen later scoffed, "Elaine.  I mean we all work hard."  Ha. My mom beat him to the bunch, but don't you worry Ryan.  I'm sure I can think of something else that you can reward me with.  Love you.

This is a great mom article about everything we struggle with every single day.

This one really had me laughing.  I am guilty of so much on this list.  But seriously, who doesn't love pumpkin?

And a little tribute to Joan Rivers.

Happy Friday my friends!
