Friday Favorties

ONE
Actually this is not my favorite, but Ryan beat everyone last week in our work weight loss challenge.  And I am annoyed.  He lost 8 pounds in one week.  Do you know the agony it takes for me to lose ONE pound?  I do not understand men.  And I am sure I should be supportive and happy for him and blah, blah, blah but COME ON!

TWO
Charlie is obsessed with anything outside.  We all ate dinner outside last weekend when it was 75 degrees.  Now Charlie wants to do it ALL THE TIME.  Even when it is 45 degrees.  Even when he is all alone.  I love him.

 THREE
Last night Ryan played in the faculty vs. student basketball game at school.  At halftime the little boys got to join in the fun.  If you want your heart to swell with the goodness of the world, then combine 18 year olds and 4 and 2 year olds.  It's good stuff.

Happy Weekend y'all!

Things On My Phone

I love looking through my phone and finding all of these funny pictures about what we've been up to!
I let Charlie eat a pop tart.  And then he spread yogurt all over it.  Disgusting or awesome?  Hard to tell.

We went to the library and Paul insisted on wearing his cape and also carrying around some sticky notes and a pen to write down some "rules."

Here are all the rules.  Please follow them.

We also like to do this now.  I'll see you soon emergency room.

Paul's really into Memory or the matching game, but you have to watch him closely because someone is a little cheater.

Super Paul!!

Charlie loves to color and paint and I let him when I don't care about paint being all over his clothes, his face, my table.

Paul trying to teach Charlie the basics of wii fighting.  #brothers

My sweet little fish waiting for swim lessons.  Love him so much!

Weekend ReCap

Although daylight savings is hard on the soul, who loves the light at the end of the day?! :)

Friday Ryan had some dinner plans with some co-workers, so Paul had a friend over and I think they got every single toy we own out of the playroom.  But they had a ton of fun and even let Charlie play, so all was good.

Saturday I woke up to teach the boy's swim team yoga again.  They are wild and talk just as much or more than girls.  It's hilarious.  Paul had a birthday party that he loved and after they sang Happy Birthday Paul announced, "That was AWESOME!"
After the party we were able to to meet our friends for an impromptu bloody mary (me, not Paul).

Saturday night I was in my pajamas by 8:30 pm and fell asleep while the boys watched Finding Nemo.  #success.

Sunday we had another birthday party for our sweet friends and their 1 year old!  Then I got to meet another friend for another bloody mary.  Do you sense a theme?  I got home around 4:30 and it was so light outside we took a family walk around the block!
This is just a little preview to summer.  Some beers in to go cups, strollers, scooters... I just love it all!

We came back for bubbles!

And then ended the night with some good ole fashioned coloring.
Poor Charlie looked like he was in a daze when we had to wake him up this morning!

A Tuesday Day Off.

Yesterday I was off with both boys.  I worked out before Ryan left and then got the boys breakfast and every other mandatory need.  When things calmed down, I hopped in the shower.  I took my time and even had time to put on mascara.  I was thinking that it was really quiet and I should really check on the boys making sure they were still in the house.  But that "checking" is always a mistake because they spot you and only one eye has mascara on and you will go your entire day without realizing it.  Anyway,  I snuck down the stairs to see they were still alive but the playroom destroyed.  I just turned around and didn't worry about it.  At least they didn't harm themselves.

After mascara was applied to both eyes, we took a little field trip to the University of Denver to visit mom's old college campus and G of course.  G took us on a little tour and bought the boys cookies and brownies.  Paul was really interested in the gold tower but confused that it was part of the same school.  He thought every building must represent a different university.  4 year old logic.

Then the boys convinced G to chase them in the grass outside the frat houses.  I am sure those frat boys were amused as it was 10:30 and Paul's screeching probably woke them up.  Side note here.  I am old.  When I think about myself I don't think I am that old.  I think college was just a few years ago.  That is not true.  I saw these little babes walking across campus.  We are not in the same age range.  We couldn't even check the same box in an age survey.  This was very humbling for me.  But I bet I could still kick some ass in flip cup.

G showed us the hockey rink, basketball court, swimming pool and we watched some people work out.  It was very exciting day.

G bought the boys new DU tee-shirts and the woman at the bookstore called Charlie a girl.  Is it the hair?  How do I get that kind of long surfer look without him looking like a girl?  Do I have to put product in there?  I am not above it.

We ended the day with a little drive by my old house I lived in with 3 other girls.  A lot of stories went down here that Paul will never be ready to hear.

It was a really fun day and I had to wake up Paul from his nap because he was so tired.  Win, win.

The Weekend

If I could describe the weekend in one word, it would be SUNSHINE.  I had some serious Sunday blues last night because it felt like summer.  And in the summer I do not have to go to work on Monday.  AND it is only February.  I am going to need a snowstorm so I can feel okay about going to work.  Anyway... I was off Friday, so Charlie and I took a little walk to the grocery store to get some necessities and then went to the park!!

We had my parents over for dinner Friday night to celebrate their birthdays.  When Paul asked how old they were turning I said 63.  That was pretty confusing for him because he has somehow convinced himself that my dad is 100.  Sorry dad.

Saturday morning was more outside time- swinging, baseball, snacks and fun!

Saturday evening ended with a movie night.  They were sitting so close- Charlie was trying to watch the movie and Paul was trying to tell him all about it.

The boys and I woke up early Sunday morning and walked to get donuts.  We went to a different park and then drew some pictures outside.

It is just so much easier to have kids when it is nice outside.  There are no jackets, hats, mittens to deal with.  They can run around and take long naps.  You can walk everywhere.  I love it.

Sunday night ended with a full lap story time!
Where's Paul????

How was your weekend?

Odds and Ends

1. Guys-- Scandal is back on.  Hallelujah!  I haven't watched it yet of course, but I'm REAL excited.

2. Last Friday when Paul got home from school, I went upstairs to freshen up and came down to someone wiped out from his preschool days.

3. In the name of TV, Parenthood is over.  I think I cried from beginning to end without much break.  I LOVED that show.

4. Maureen called me to tell me this was the hit song in her sculpt class in Texas that was very popular with the young sorority gals.  I love to be hip.  Downloaded.

5. This is the funniest Bachelor recap I've read.

6.  This kid.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday blog friends!  I am pretty pumped that I already worked out this morning, but that probably means I will be exhausted by 3:00 pm. Take a little give a little.

We had a great weekend filled with lots of friends.  Friday night our friends who have a girl Paul's age and a boy Charlie's age came over.  Listen.  I have 2 boys.  I am totally satisfied.  I am not going to have a third baby to try and have a girl because I would have a boy and then my house would literally blow up due to toddler boy destruction. However, there is something about a girl.  Who wears bows and headbands.  And who listens.  And is quiet.  Paul, Charlie and Ellie were on the couch and Paul and Charlie started arguing about a toy they both wanted to have and we heard Ellie say "Boys.  You need to share."  AND THEN THEY DID.  Seriously it was like a little angel on my couch.  Second best thing of the night?  Paul and Ellie came in the kitchen and told me to close my eyes because they had a big surprise.  A big surprise in 4 year old language isn't necessarliy something I get excited about.  Paul poops in the toilet and all of a sudden it's a big surprise.  So imagine my shock when they led me into the spotless playroom they had just cleaned up.  Come over everyday Ellie.  Amen.

Easton thought all of this was a little boring and was perfectly satisfied laying on my disgusting dog hair filled floor watching the iphone.  I feel you man.

Saturday Ryan and I woke up and took the kids to the gym.  We have to bribe them to go to the kid's center by promising a donut afterwards.  Stupid but it works! :)  Then we came home, napped and got ready for a fun one year old birthday party.  Paul thought it was necessary to bring along the glow sticks I picked up at the Target dollar bin.  One year old birthdays usually mean rave to me too.  The big kids had a great time dancing and using their glow sticks as guns, swords and whatever other weapon they could think of.

Sunday we woke up and were surprised to find a ton of snow on the ground.  I wrestled the kids into their snow clothes which only took 37 minutes and a meltdown by Charlie.  Paul had a great time sledding and Charlie hated everything.  Hated his jacket and boots and wouldn't put on his mittens.  So I took the Char man home and Ryan and Paul had wonderful morning.

After I took a million years to get Charlie undressed, I threw in a load of laundry and found him like this.  Asleep on our family room floor with his hand down his pants.  Sledding for 30 seconds takes it out me me too dude.

The kids napped, Ryan and I got some wings and fries and put the Superbowl on.  The boys sort of ruined any relaxing laying on the couch Sunday football but it was nice to have a low key night.

Happy Monday to all!

Friday Favorites

I am so excited for the weekend.  I know I say that every Friday, but I really mean it this time.  We have plans with friends both nights and I want to sit on the couch and READ.

#1.
Read this right now and laugh.

#2.
But seriously.

#3
Although Paul looks like he is in pain, I love these dudes cuddling up on the couch.  They are just the sweetest and growing up TOO fast.  Ryan took Paul to buy new shoes the other night after we discovered his toes were literally jammed up to the edge of the old ones (oops).  Now he looks like he is 13 and I am sad.

Also, last night Charlie was sitting at the counter while Ryan and I were talking and he started singing to himself.  Ryan thought it was the ABCs.  But you know what it was?  I am almost embarrassed to say.  Taylor Swift- Shake it off.  He was singing the "play play play" part and when I chimed in with "Shake it Off" he was PUMPED to do the "oooo ooooo."  It was hilarious and now it is evident we listen to that song too often.

Happy Friday my friends!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

My Charlie is TWO

I didn't know I would be so emotional about sweet Charlie turning TWO.  It literally feels like yesterday that I was rushing to the hospital praying for an epidural only to find out when I arrived it was time to push.

Charlie is the cutest, sweetest two year old.  He loves basketball, cars, crashing, jumping, balloons, stuffed animals, stacking blocks and reading books.  He loves to be outside, or to be in the bath and to sing.  He's talking so much more and still loves to snuggle.  We are so lucky to have this boy in our lives.  Happy Birthday Charlie!

Weekend Recap

It is Monday but it is the ONLY day I have to work this week, so life is not bad.  At all.  We had a great weekend and even though it was busy we had lots of fun!

I was looking through pictures on my phone and found that Paul must have stolen my phone and done a little photography himself.  I love that boy.

I think the ones of the planes are actually artistic?

Friday afternoon we picked up the boys and headed to our neighbor's house for a 2 year old birthday party.  There were 12 kids the oldest being 12 who watched ALL the kids in the basement.  Such a treat.  Although the adults ate dinner in record time because we knew once we sat down someone was going to come up and need something.  Doesn't that always happen?

Saturday morning I taught yoga to the swim team again and then Ryan and I took the kids to the gym. We just joined LifeTime and LOVE that there is child care.  We let the kids play soccer and then took them to the "classroom."  Paul said Charlie cried, but he sang him a song and all was okay.  Sweet brothers!

Saturday night Ryan and I went out to dinner to celebrate my upcoming 34th birthday!!  We had a great time at a new hip awesome restaurant.  No one was there at 6:15 when we had our reservation, but by the time we left around 8:00 it was busy.  We are old and can't even think about waiting to eat until after 8.  Maybe again one day?

Sunday was selfie day and then LAZY.

Charlie played cars and likes to get himself situated on the stairs so he can carefully line up his crew.

Then it started to snow and I put the boys down for a nap. For whatever reason Charlie woke up 30 minutes later and wouldn't go back to sleep unless he was laying directly on top of me.  Sounds good to me Charlie!

I didn't do any vacuuming or laundry that I should have done, so this morning was a bit hectic, but I am sure I will catch up while we are off work!

Happy Monday all!! Have a wonderful day!!
