Odds and Ends

1. Guys-- Scandal is back on.  Hallelujah!  I haven't watched it yet of course, but I'm REAL excited.

2. Last Friday when Paul got home from school, I went upstairs to freshen up and came down to someone wiped out from his preschool days.

3. In the name of TV, Parenthood is over.  I think I cried from beginning to end without much break.  I LOVED that show.

4. Maureen called me to tell me this was the hit song in her sculpt class in Texas that was very popular with the young sorority gals.  I love to be hip.  Downloaded.

5. This is the funniest Bachelor recap I've read.

6.  This kid.

Weekend RoundUp!

Good morning little sunshines!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Here is what we were up to!
Friday night we made it out with our friends.  We had a great time and even saw some of our former students who now work at this particular establishment.  That is always awkward.  We got home and promptly went to bed because it was 9:30.  #wearecrazy.

Saturday morning we woke up for some yoga and then headed over to our friend Kacy's 1st birthday! How do babies grow so fast?  She looked cute in her pink dress and seemed to enjoy stuffing cake in her mouth.  Charlie stayed close by my side so I wouldn't be tempted to hold, look, glance at other children.  He's a smart cookie.  We came home for naps and when the boys woke up Ryan made them this AWESOME fort.  They stayed down in the basement and watched Toy Story while we were upstairs drinking wine watching Scandal.  It was genius.

Sunday morning we woke up and I took the boys to the grocery story.  The time to get groceries around here is EARLY Sunday morning.  They don't seem to mind because they get a cookie and can ride in the car cart (I want to meet the person who invented the car cart.  It.is.awful) and it is less busy.  We came home and Paul had a play date with his girlfriend Sophia.  I went to yoga and Target ALONE.  Play dates are amazing.  When I picked Paul up he hugged Sophia and she planted a kiss right on his cheek.  When he told Ryan about the incident he covered his eyes with his hand, as if he knew to be embarrassed.  So cute.

Sunday afternoon we had a visit from Nana and Papa and then nap times.  I tried to do some school work (gross) while I watched the Bronco game with Ryan.  Paul woke up from his nap and we made cookies.  These cookies were very important.  I didn't have to work on Friday, but Paul had school. When we were getting ready that morning Paul asked me where Charlie was going.  I STUPIDLY replied that he was staying home with me.  Someone was very sad.  Tears in his eyes sad.  So I did what any good mother would do.  I lied.  I told him I was just teasing him.  That of course after we dropped him off at school I was taking Charlie to daycare.  He seem to buy the story but to ensure my lies I told him we could make cookies this weekend, just the two of us.  I am probably going to hell. I called Ryan right after I dropped him off to confess my sins, but I am not sure if that helps my karma in the universe.  Anyway, we made cookies and everyone seemed happy.

After Charlie woke up we walked to the park for some baseball time, also known as wear the kids out so they'll go to sleep time.  It was actually a perfect end to the weekend.  The air was crisp.  Paul rode his scooter.  Charlie pushed his own stroller with nothing in it and Ryan and I walked calmly with a beer in our hand.

Then it was back home to vacuum, pack lunches, clean up the kitchen, blah blah blah.  I gave the kids baths and they love the towels Aunt Kascie made them.  Paul is "roaring like a Polar Bear" if anyone is wondering!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and good luck tackling Monday!

October Goals

I was teaching yoga last night and for the first time in awhile it was DARK when class ended at 6:45. Fall is here.  Oh and it was so freezing last night  I even wore my UGGS.  You know we are seriously when the UGGS are broken out.

Here are my little goals for the month of October:

1. Read 2 books
- now this should be no problem but lately I have been reading TWO pages and falling asleep.  The struggle is real.  Perhaps less TV and more book time?

2. Carve pumpkins
- I think we meant to do this last year but never got around to it.  Paul is excited about any holiday so he will think this is special!

3. Deal with the light situation in the dining room
- Who is tired of hearing about the light situation in my dining room?  Me!!!  But I need to deal with this in OCTOBER!

4. Figure out Halloween costumes
- I am pretty sure Charlie is going to be whatever Paul was when he was Charlie's age (sorry 2nd child) but Paul's request changes every 10 seconds.

5. Finish Season 3 of Scandal
- Doesn't really go with #1, but I am sure everyone is also sick of me discuss this obsession so it will be good to be caught up!

6. Bake something
- Nothing says fall like a chocolate something baking in your oven!  YUM

Anything you are dying to do in October?

Weekend Recap

Good morning!  I've already been to yoga sculpt and sitting down now to drink a cup of coffee!  It's a good Monday!  Here is what we were up to this weekend!

Friday (as promised), we parked ourselves on the couch to watch Scandal.  I love Olivia Pope and her style.  Apparently The Limited started their own line inspired by the fashion on Scandal.  I'll probably need to check that out!

Saturday morning I woke up early to head downtown for yoga from one of the best teachers EVER.Came home and got ready for our friend Noah's 4th birthday party!  Here is my present:

So, I'm not even wrapping things anymore?  I don't know who I am.  Maybe I've turned into such a boy mom that I know wrapping paper doesn't matter AT ALL to these young tykes.  Or maybe I'm just extremely lazy.  It's hard to know.

When we came home from the party, we put the boys to bed and again found ourselves on the couch for more Scandal.  In the middle of a VERY tense scene, our power went out which caused me to scream and convince myself someone was trying to kill us.  Dramatic much?

Sunday I woke up to this sweet scene and then we filled our day with laundry, yoga, the grocery store and all the other fun weekend chores!

Finally, I found this picture on my phone from last week when Paul's girlfriend (and yes this is how Paul refers to her.  Because she is a girl and a friend.  Duh) Sophia came over.  Notice how the sweet girl is sitting on her designated chair playing Hungry Hippo.  Notice the boys ON TOP of the table like little monkeys.

Have a wonderful day!

Lately

1. My mom sent me this link of being a boy mom.  True.  All of them.

2. We just started Friday Night Lights on Netflix.  We watched 3 episodes last night.  I loved it.  And Ryan even stopped when I went to bed.  Sometimes he likes to binge watch while I sleep.  And then we are not on the same episode.  Oh marriage.

3. I can't wait for the new seasons of Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.  When will these return???

4. Perhaps I watch too much TV?

5. Remember when I said I was going to do one Pinterest project a month?  My January contribution is this jar:

The idea is to put fun things you do throughout the year in the jar, and then read them New Year's Eve.  I've added some funny things Paul says or Charlie does.  I hope I keep it up because it would be a fun way to remember the year.

6. I am reading the new Wally Lamb, We Are Water.  So far pretty good, but a lot of dysfunctional family reading.  Aren't all his books a little crazy?

7. This is on the menu for tomorrow night- Thai peanut chicken quinoa bowls.  Looks good and relatively easy.  My two requirements.

8. I've been meaning to go through my closets and "make" outfits, so that I can have something ready to go in the morning.  I'm okay putting an outfit together when I am going to work but when I'm home, it is the same ole thing.  But I haven't done this yet.  Sounds like a good idea, doesn't it?

9. I am loving having FaceBook off my phone.  I just check in once a day or so on my computer and guess what?  My world has not ended and there is nothing that exciting going on.  Weird.

10. Isn't this the truth:
Happy Wednesday!

The Finale.

Some people have date night by going to the movies or out to dinner.  We watch The Bachelor.

I had to teach yoga last night (my dedication to teaching astounds me, missing the live finale) and I gave Ryan STRICT instructions to not start the show without me.  When I returned home, Paul was sleeping and Ryan was just putting Charlie down.  I poured myself some boxed wine, Ryan grabbed a beer, and we settled in to watch the proposal of these two:

It is absolutely insane I invest any time into this show, but I can't stop.

My Thoughts:
1. I did not think either Catherine or Lindsay had that great of a dress.  Although I did appreciate the foreshadowing of Catherine in gold and Lindsay in silver.
2. Like everyone else, I applauded Lindsay taking off those heels after getting dumped.  Who the hell needs to walk in those shoes after hearing, "I love you, but...."
3. I think Sean was the best bachelor we've had.  He seemed the most normal.  Do you agree?
3. I LOVE his dad.  How sweet is that guy?
4. Also Sean's sweet little nephew won my heart last night, when he gently reminded Sean that Emily DID NOT pick him.
5. I wasn't really in love with any of the women this season.  I liked that Lesley from D.C. but everyone else seemed a little "meh:"  Except Tierra.  She was just awful.

What were your thoughts?  What about  Desiree becoming the next bachelorette?

TV Tonight!

You know, I want to like Emily.  She is cute, has a nice smile, polite, kind.  But there is just something missing.  A little snark perhaps?  A sense of humor?  I did enjoy the previews of the season when they show her giving some dude a good old fashioned F Bomb, but overall she seems a bit boring.

I wish I could stop watching this absolute train wreck, kills my brain cells show.  But I can't.  One of my favorite things to do is watch this with Ryan and judge all these douche bags who try and impress Emily.  The first night is the best- songs, interpretive dancing, poems, costumes.  I wish someone had a recording of the commentary going on at our house.  We are hilarious (in my humble opinion).

Do you still watch this quality program, or have you stepped off the crazy train?
